Suspected militants kill three abducted cops in south Kashmir’s Shopian

Shopian: Suspected militants on Friday killed three abducted cops in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, sources said.

The slain cops have been identified as Firdous Ahmad, Kulwant Singh and Nisar Ahmad.

Earlier the trio and another cop were abducted from two villages Bategund and Kapren after suspected militants barged into their houses.

Local sources said that bullet riddled bodies of three cops have been recovered from Dangam area of Shopian, not far away from Kapren and Bategund.

Confirming the killings police said in a tweet, “We have lost 3 of our brave colleagues in a barbaric terror strike. Our tribute to the 3 martyred Jawans, Nisar Ahmad, Firdous Kuchay & Kulwant Singh. We condemn this inhuman act and assure that all the culprits shall be dealt under law.”

The fourth abducted, namely Tajaullah was purportedly released by militants. He released a 59 second video soon after his freedom saying that he had already resigned from police service on September 17.

“I have nothing to do with police,” Tajaullah is heard saying.

Local sources told Kashmir Reader that militants early in the morning barged into many houses belonging to policemen however only three were present in their houses who were abducted.

PTI reported that at least eight people whose relatives worked in Jammu and Kashmir Police were abducted.

Earlier this week, militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen had put out videos in which they had said policemen should resign or prepare to be killed.
