Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Muhammad Yasin Malik while addressing a Muharram congregation at Basant Bagh here on Thursday said Imam Hussain (RA) martyrdom represents resilience and courage and the battle between the forces of truth and falsehood.
“Hussain (RA) and his family strived for a righteous cause and sacrificed their lives for it in the barren land of Karbala,” Malik said on the occasion according to the statement. “He became a martyr but wrote a glorious page in Islamic history that will always remain a source of inspiration for all those who stand against tyranny and oppression.”
JKLF chairman said that the struggle in Kashmir is also the struggle against the oppression. “We are witnessing a Karbala of modern times. Kashmiris’ resistance is continuation of battle of Karbala,” he said and added: “we all should adhere to the principle – ‘No election till right to self-determination’ and refrain from participating in elections.
He said that “forces are operating with impunity in Kashmir and their main objective is to suppress freedom aspirations of Kashmiris”.
Meanwhile, the JKLF spokesperson said its district president for Ganderbal Bashir Ahmad Rather has been detained by the police. He said Malik while condemning his arrest, said that this is unacceptable.
