Paediatric echocardiography workshop held at Jammu Medical College

SRINAGAR: In its constant endeavour to improve and provide comprehensive paediatric cardiology services in Jammu, Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital organised a one day workshop on Basics of Pediatric Echocardiography at Jammu Medical College, on Wednesday.
An official statement issued here said the workshop was
conducted by internationally renowned faculty Prof (Dr) Hemant Madan- Senior Consultant and Director, Cardiology and Paediatric Cardiology at Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Gurugram along with Department of Paediatrics, Jammu Medical College. It was attended by close to 50 delegates.
Dr (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer at SMVDNSH was the chief guest.
In his inaugural address he said that holding of such workshops benefits both post graduate residents and registrars in screening patients at their level.
He said that organisation of  such academic activities will immensely benefit patients and save their time and travel to other places for confirmation of diagnosis in times to come.
Welcoming the delegates to the workshop, Dr Rekha Harish – Professor and Head of the Department of Paediatrics at SMGS Hospital, Jammu, stated that basic echocardiography knowledge was a felt need in the extremely busy department. Such skills would certainly aid in expeditious and prompt diagnosis of newborns and children with suspected heart disease The various topics covered during the workshop included basic types of echocardiography, handling of the echocardiography equipment, views of
echocardiographic examination, screening for various congenital lesions in paediatric population and screening newborns for suspected heart disease.
