Rash driving: Court jails driver for 3 years

Baramulla: The Court of Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Chandoosa Tuesday convicted a driver of three years imprisonment for rash and negligent driving and directed him to pay Rs 5 lakh to victim family.
The convict is Dilbar Ahmad Parra resident of Sherapora Chandoosa Baramulla was found guilty of Offence under Section 304-A (death caused by Rash and Negligent act) 279 (Rash and negligent) RPC and imposed the sentence.
The court also held that in case the accused fails to pay the compensation he shall undergo further imprisonment of 6 months.
The convict was driving Scorpio vehicle negligently and jumped out of the vehicle therein leaving the running vehicle with passengers driverless. The vehicle then rolled down the hill at Shirapora Village resulting in on spot death of one person and injuries to two of his kids.
Meanwhile, the convict was taken in custody in open court and has been lodged in district jail Baramulla.
