30-day long exhibition to bring positive change in youth: Secy JKKVIB

‘Exhibition to provide platform to potential entrepreneurs’

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (JKKVIB) organised a month-long India-level Khadi exhibition-cum-sale with the theme ‘Kashmir Destination’ at Kashmir Haat-Srinagar for the display and promotion of JKKVIB products that began here on Tuesday.
More than 200 stalls of KVIB units, established under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP) and Khadi Institutions from across India will be displaying their products at the exhibition.
Secretary, Chief Executive Officer JKKVIB, Rashid Ahmad Qadri said that the motive of organising this exhibition-cum-sale is to promote quality and genuine Khadi products. “They aim to promote Khadi and Village Industries products among the public,” he said adding that 30-day long exhibition will give an impetus and will provide a platform to the budding and potential entrepreneurs associated with Khadi and Village Industries.
“Such events provide an excellent opportunity to the unemployed youth to get first-hand knowledge of the various activities under this sector, in order to start their own venture,” he said. “This trial of 30 days will bring positive change in the minds of the youth to become independent entrepreneurs and eventually job-providers instead of jobs-seekers,” he asserted.
State Director KVIB, D S Bhati said that this exhibition would bring in more sustainability and viability to the Khadi institutions and micro enterprises across India.
He said “people should throng the exhibition venue to experience wide range of genuine and quality products at reasonable and affordable prices”.
The exhibition shall feature sale of Khadi Cloth, readymade garments, Tasar and Mutka Silk suits, pure silken suits, Lucknowi Chicken arts, Phoolkari dresses, Pashmina shawls, woolen products, Khadi items, leather jackets and bags, Rajasthani leather chappals, dry fruits, honey, herbal soaps and perfumes, Ayurvedic products, diet and health products, willow wicker, Namdass, Ghabbaaz, copper utensils and a variety of Khadi and Village Industries products.
The theme ‘Kashmir Destination’ is based on an idea to promote Jammu and Kashmir as a prospective market for Khadi and Village Industries products.
