Shutdown in Anantnag against civilian killing, local TeH leader among several arrested

Srinagar: A completes shutdown is being observed in south Kashmir’s Anantnag town on Tuesday against the killing of a local youth during clashes with government forces at Chowgam Qazigund a couple of days before.

Rouf Ahmad, of Anchidora area of the town was killed in clashes with forces which erupted after five militants were killed in the village.

Meanwhile, local sources told Kashmir Reader that forces conducted nocturnal raids in the town during last night and arrested several youth.

The arrested included Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) Anantnag tehsil president Ashiq Hussain, they said.

TeH is a pro-freedom organization led by veteran Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, and it is a constituent of Hurriyat Conference faction led by Syed Ali Geelani.
