Chinar Cup football tournament
SRINAGAR: The summit trophy of Chinar Cup football tournament was jointly shared by DPS Srinagar and DPS Budgam as the match ended with a score-line of 0-0.
No result was possible on Sunday thanks to the crowd disruption at the fag end of the tense game at jam packed Ground. The invasion prompted organizers to call off the game with two teams locked at 0-0.
Both teams gave exhibition of aggressive game coupled with solid defence. The stipulated 90 minutes had nothing to choose between the two sides with a score-line of 0-0.
The teams went into the break with a stalemate. Second half didn’t see teams slacken their aggressive instincts, but didn’t have goals to show the quality of the game. Both teams showed strong defence to thwart any chances of status quo being disturbed.
For the majority of 90 minutes of play, both teams had pressed attacking button to make continuous advances on each others’ goal post.
A closing and prize distribution ceremony was also held after the match was over. Khurshid A Ganai,
Advisor to Governor Khurshid A Ganai was the chief guest on the prize distribution ceremony. Speaking on the occasion Ganai congratulated the school for organizing such a wonderful tournament, and said “The school deserves special praise for its efforts in providing platform to the youth to showcase their talent.”
Chairman DPS Srinagar Vijay Dhar also welcome the dignitaries and the spectators. He said “I am highly thankful to all the parents and schools who participated and supported the tournament. Without their support, the tournament would not have been possible.”
The award of Golden boot went to Adeel Tariq from DPS Budgam, while Euzair Tak from DPS Srinagar won the Golden Glove Award. Musaib Javaid from DPS Srinagar was declared the Player of the tournament.
The tournament was the first of its kind held under lights at DPS Srinagar.
