KU appoints Dr Sumbli as Rector, Kargil Campus

Srinagar: Kashmir University (KU) has appointed Dr Mohammad Shafi Sumbli as Rector of the varsity’s Kargil campus.
A doctorate in Kashmiri, Dr Sumbli has completed his M Phil before switching over to the administrative set-up.
Dr Sumbli, who was presently serving as Director Convocation Complex, has held very important positions in the university system over the years including Registrar, Chairman Centre for Sheikh-ul-Alam Studies and Special Secretary to Vice-Chancellor. He has also headed various significant wings of the administration including Estates, Teaching, Development, Examination etc. in his career spanning more than 30 years.
Dr Sumbli has also been the longest-serving president of the Kashmir University Officers Association (KUOA).
Dr Sumbli has continued his association with academics, especially teaching and research at the department of Kashmiri and Centre for Sheikh-ul-Alam Studies.
Dr Sumbli shall also look after the affairs of the University’s Leh campus for the time being.
