Govt forces carry out CASO in south Kashmir’s Shopian

Shopian: Barely a day after militants tried to blow up an army vehicle, the government forces on Monday carried out door to door searches in Heff village of this south Kashmir district.

Early this morning, army, police and the CRPF laid a siege around Heff village here and launched a cordon and search operation (CASO), eyewitnesses told Kashmir Reader.  The joint team, witnesses said conducted door to door searches in dozens of households after laying cordon around the village.

The operation was peacefully called off however mobile phones and identity cards of several persons were allegedly taken away by the forces, witnesses said.

Kashmir Reader made repeated attempts to reach officials for their comment on the CASO and allegations of mobile snatching.

On Sunday night, militants triggered an IED blast targeting army’s Cassiper vehicle. The militants also exchanged gunfire with the soldiers before fleeing.
