TRAL: A young man was attacked and killed by a wild bear while another was injured in a Tral village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday evening.
31-year-old Tariq Ahmad, son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh of Shairabad, Tral was critically injured after a bear attacked him in his orchard on Saturday evening. Ahmad’s uncle also received minor injuries when the bear attacked him, locals said.
Both the injured were shifted to Sub District hospital Tral where from Tariq Ahmad was referred to SMHS hospital Srinagar in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries.
BMO Tral Dr Bashir Ahmad said that Tariq had suffered injuries in his face and head after a bear attacked him. The deceased was married 10 months before.
The wild bear is reported to have come down from the nearby forest to the residential area in search of food.
