Militants target army’s mine protected vehicle in south Kashmir’s Shopian

Shopian: Militants on Saturday night attacked an army patrol by triggering off an IED blast in Heff village of this south Kashmir district.

Around 11:15pm on Saturday, militants triggered an IED blast targeting army’s mine protected Casspir vehicle in Heff village here, witnesses told Kashmir Reader Sunday. The IED planed in the middle of the road exploded with a huge bang creating panic in the village.

The loud noise of the explosion, witnesses said was heard in other villages, around 8-10 kilometres from Heff.

The IED blast was followed by exchange of fire between militants and the army.

Instantly, more reinforcements were rushed to the area, who launched coron and search operation.

“An army vehicle came under militant attack. However, there was no loss of life or property in the IED blast,” a police officer said.
