SRINAGAR: Haji Anayat Ali, Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here on Friday and extended warm greetings to Malik on his appointment as Governor of J&K.
Ali informed Governor about several educational and road connectivity problems faced by the people of Kargil and about other varied issues of public importance.
Governor assured Ali due consideration of all the issues projected by him and urged him to continue his sustained endeavours for promoting public welfare.
A statement issued from Raj Bhavan also said that former Minister G.H. Mir, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan and extended warm greetings to Malik on his appointment as Governor J&K.
Mir held discussions with Governor about the challenges being faced in the arena of development and the steps required for creating conditions which can lead to sustained peace and normalcy in the State.
Governor and Mir discussed the crucial importance of establishing institutions of local self government for empowering people and ensuring overall development of villages and towns.
Meanwhile, a delegation of fruit growers from Village Goom, district Baramulla, met Governor Satya Pal Malik here.
The delegation apprised Governor about damage caused to their fruit crops due to yesterday’s hail storm and requested him to direct concerned authorities to give them adequate compensation for their losses.
Raj Bhavan Spokesperson informed that Governor after listening to the delegation, spoke to the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and directed him to carry out immediate assessment of the damages to the fruit crops and expedite cases for due compensation to the fruit growers.
Governor assured the delegation that he will direct the concerned authorities to do the needful.
