CASO triggers clashes in south Kashmir’s Pulwama

Pulwama: Clashes broke out Friday in a village in this south Kashmir district after army and special operations group (SOG) of police launched a cordon and search operation (CASO).

The joint team of army, SOG and CRPF laid a siege around Tiken village here this evening and launched a CASO, witnesses told Kashmir Reader. When the search operation was in progress, dozens of youth hit the streets and opposed it.

Angry youth, witnesses said hurled rocks at the government forces in a bid to thwart the search operation.

“In retaliation, govt forces also hurled rocks at the protesters. The ding-dong battle escalated,” witnesses said.

Meanwhile, traffic through Tiken village has been diverted in view of the ongoing clashes.
