Srinagar: Authorities on Thursday announced closure of all educational institutions in north Kashmir’s Sopore, official sources said.
The step has been taken in wake of the exchange of fire between militants and government forces in the town during a cordon and search operation (CASO).
Internet services have also been snapped in the town since morning, local sources said.
Earlier, government forces and militants exchanged brief fire during cordon and search operation in Arampora area of Sopore.
Forces launched a CASO in Teliyan Mohalla of the town and started door to door searches early today which led to the exchange of fire.
Police sources said that though firing has stopped however some militants and believed to be trapped in the area.
The cordon has been strengthened and civilian are being evacuated from the area, they said.
