North Kashmir’s Langate shuts down to mourn Lashkar militants

Baramulla: A complete shutdown is being observed in Langate town of the frontier Kupwara district against the killing of two local Lashkar militants in a gun-battle with government forces on Tuesday.

All shops, offices and commercial establishments in Langate and adjoining areas are closed to mourn the killing of Lashkar militants Liyaqat Ahmad Lone of Sopore, and Furqan Rashid Lone of Shartpora of Shartpora, Langate, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.

Both Lashkar militants were killed in a gunfight with government forces in Galoora village in Handwara in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Class work at higher secondary schools and Degree College Handwara have also been suspended amid fears of protests against the militant killings, witnesses said.
