SRINAGAR: Ram Madhav, National General Secretary, BJP, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday.
Madhav discussed with Governor several matters relating to ensuring equitable development in the State and shared his Party’s views about upcoming elections to Urban Local Bodies and Panchayats in the State.
Governor and Madhav discussed about the importance of these polls for strengthening democratic institutions at grass root level and enabling people to directly associate with development of their towns and villages.
A statement issued here also said that delegation of Indian National Congress led by J&K President G.A. Mir met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan.
The delegation members discussed with Governor about their concerns relating to the upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies polls and shared their views on various aspects of these elections.
The members apprised Governor about various development needs of their respective areas and overall equitable development of all the three regions of the State.
Governor emphasized the importance of empowerment of people through establishment of local self-governing institutions which will strengthen democratic framework at the grass root level and ensure direct participation of people in the development programmes of their villages and towns.
The delegation comprised Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Ghulam Nabi Monga, Vaqar Rasool Wani, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Mohd. Amin Bhat, Peerzada Mohammad Syed, Tariq Hamid Karra, Taj Mohi U din, Farooq Andrabi, Surinder Singh Channi, KhemlataWakhloo, Abdul Gani Khan and Nissar Mundo.
Meanwhile Vikar Rasool Wani, MLA Banihal, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here and submitted a memorandum of his demands.
Wani apprised Governor about the development needs of his Constituency and requested Governor that High Schools of Pogal, Chamalwas, Ramsoo, Sumbar be put in the list of 199 schools approved for upgradation, release of funds for improvement of Chamalwas – Neel Road, sanctioning a Sports Stadium at Lambar, and a Degree College at Ukarhall. He also requested Governor for early resolution of grievances of the SSA teachers.
Governor assured Wani due consideration of his demands and urged him to continue his endeavors for public welfare and development of the State.
