Srinagar: In view of the upcoming holy month of Muharram, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) commissioner Pirzada Hafizullah along with senior municipal officers Monday toured several areas of Srinagar to take stock of the arrangements.
Hafizullah visited the shrine of Mir Shams Din Iraqi in Zadibal and issued on-the-spot instructions to the executive engineer to prepare a proposal for a new gateway for the shrine. He also ordered removal of the old door to the shrine.
The Commissioner also visited Baghwanpora and Imambara at Hasanabad. He took stock of the sanitation and functioning of street lights in these areas. The Commissioner asked the officials to replace all defunct streetlights and install more lights as per the requirement.
The SMC Commissioner also visited Lal Bazar and Hazratbal.
“All SMC officials are instructed to remain on standby to meet any requirement on account of sanitation or street lighting during the month of Muharram,” Hafizullah said.
