SRINAGAR: Principal Secretary, Animal, Sheep Husbandry, Asgar Hassan Samoon on Monday stressed on NABARD officials to invest more in agriculture and its allied departments like animal and sheep husbandry by upgrading infrastructure and improving other facilities. Samoon said there was huge potential to create more employment in the state given the potential of these sectors.
He was speaking while reviewing the status of various ongoing projects of the Department of Animal, Sheep Husbandry being implemented under NABARD in the state, an official handout read.
The Principal Secretary asked the NABARD and bank officials to start awareness programmes so that the people could be benefited from these schemes. He also asked them to provide training to the officials of the department so that all the benefits of these schemes were properly implemented for its beneficiaries, read the handout.
He said the department was in a process to ensure greater transparency as “the department has a huge potential to generate economy in the state”. He asked the officials to lessen the communication gap for the better output.
Samoon also reviewed the implementation of the ‘Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS)’. It was revealed that a total 2337 cases have been sponsored in 2018-2019 out of which 66 cases stand sanctioned so far, which includes 23 in Kashmir and 43 in Jammu, the handout added.
