Awantipora: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) organized a Special Orientation Programme on “Careers in Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) – Planning your Scientific Journey” here on Tuesday.
The resource persons from J&K Scientists Group were Dr Syed Mubarak Hussain, neuroscientist from the University of New Mexico, USA, Dr Zahida Qamiri, The Ohio State University, Reyaz Ahmad Shah, Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore, and Insha Rasool, Postech University, South Korea.
The experts shared personal stories of their academic and research journeys with the students and faculty followed by a one to one interaction.
The event was attended by deans, heads students, faculty, research scholars and staff of various departments.
Vice Chancellor, Prof Mushtaq A Siddiqi gave an overview of the efforts being taken at IUST for propagation and dissemination of scientific knowledge. “There is immense scope, need and opportunities in Science and Technology areas and need of the hour is to have quality research having relevance in tackling the societal issues at global level,” he said.
Dean School of Sciences, Prof G M Rather emphasised upon the need of organizing such resourceful and motivational events in future also.
