Awantipora: A one-week workshop on ‘FPGA programming in Power and Control Applications’ scheduled from September 10 to 14 was inaugurated on Monday at Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST), Awantipora.
The workshop is being organised by the Department of Electrical Engineering, School of Engineering &Technology, IUST, and sponsored under TEQIP-III programme of IUST, an official statement issued here said.
The experts of the event who will be giving hands on training and deliberations during the week long programme among others include Er Shashi Kumar, senior software engineer Embedded Group, Cranes Software International Limited Bangalore and Er Mayank, software engineer Embedded Group, Cranes Software International Limited Bangalore.
Vice Chancellor, IUST, Prof Mushtaq A Siddiqi, who was the chief guest of the inaugural function, while appreciating efforts of the Department of Engineering & Technology in their efforts in organising the event, highlighted the importance of universities in bringing out scientific and affordable solutions to societal issues especially in the developing countries.
Prof A M Shah, Dean Academic Affairs, in his address stressed that both students and teachers have to work together and make full advantage and use of the facilities and opportunities being facilitated at IUST so as to make this newly established university a global leader in knowledge sharing, innovations and research.
Prof A H Moon, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology/Chief Coordinator of TEQIP, IUST gave an overview and need of organising the workshop and also briefed about the various extra-curricular and co-curricular activities being organised at IUST for the benefit of the students.
Prof Farooq A Mir, Registrar, during his speech briefed about the changing trend and techniques in Engineering & Technology areas and role of interdisciplinary approaches in these fields.
The inaugural session was attended by deans, heads/principals of various departments, centres, and colleges, and students, faculty, research scholars, staff from IUST and different universities, colleges and other institutes from both within and outside the State.
