Baramulla: Authorities on Tuesday ordered closure of schools and colleges besides suspending internet services in north Kashmir’s Handwara amid fears of protests over the killing of two alleged militants in a pre-dawn encounter.

Cellular companies, including the state run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) suspended mobile internet service in Handwara, shortly after police claimed to have killed two unknown militants in a gun-battle in Galoora village in the pre-dawn gunfight, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.

The district administration also ordered closure of Government Degree College (GDC) Handwara and higher secondary schools fearing protests against the killing of militants.
