Srinagar: Three years after the authorities dug up Lake View Park on Boulevard for road widening and proposed cycle tracks, the site has been left in dire straits.
The park is located near a Fisheries Department office, which also hosts an aquarium. Fisheries officials told Kashmir Reader that the condition of the park leaves a bad taste on aquarium visitors.
The Shikarawals waiting for customers in the Dal Lake near by have similar complaints.
“Three years ago the administration dug up the park for road widening and cycle tracks but beyond that nothing has been done, the authorities are working at a snail’s pace. The customers used to wait or relax inside the park but since it has been dug there is a decline in the number of visitors,” a Shikarawala near Zabarwan Park said.
He said the park was visited by many in the night hours, but the authorities only dug it up, and neither widened the road nor any cycle track was built.
Director Floriculture Kashmir Mathora Masoom told Kashmir Reader that park doesn’t belong to them anymore as it was taken over for road and cycle tracks.
