Two militants killed in north Kashmir’s Handwara: Police

Baramulla: Two unidentified militants were killed today in a pre-dawn encounter with government forces in a village in Handwara of the frontier Kupwara district.

Unidentified militants fired upon a joint team of special operations group (SOG) personnel and army’s 30 RR in Galoora village of Handwara in the wee hours today, a police spokesperson told Kashmir Reader.

The joint team returned the fire triggering off a fierce gun-battle. In the ensuing encounter, police spokesperson said two unknown militants were killed.

They have been identified as Furqan Rashid Lone @ Adil  and Liyaqat Ahmad Lone @ Sahaba @ Umar Khalid.

“Arms and ammunition was also recovered from the site of encounter. Search in the area is going on,” the spokesperson said.
