BARAMULLA: Police has recovered the body of a Tangmarg man missing for last two weeks, and also claimed to have solved the murder case by arresting the two accused, on whose instance the body was found.
A statement issued by police said that the body was recovered from nearby area and the man was murdered and buried by two youth from his neighbourhood.
On Aug 26, one Abdul Majeed Teli of Reshipora, Tangmarg in Baramulla district approached police with a missing complaint of his son, Mehraj-u-din Teli, 25, who he said was missing since Aug 24.
Police made efforts to trace the missing man but did not succeed.
However, working on some clues, police rounded up some suspects, and on sustained questioning over two weeks, two suspects Irshad Ahmed Wani and Imtiyaz Ahmed Wani, both residents of Reshipora village, “confessed” to murdering Mehraj-din-Teli and burying the body in a nearby stream, police said. The two accused are cousins, and police said, the motive of murder has been an alleged relationship of Mehraj-u-din with sister of one the accused.
“After murdering him they buried his dead body in the Budnar Nalla which is around one kilometre far from Reshipora. On their disclosure and at their instance the police team accompanied by the medical and forensic teams and magistrate rushed to the spot, and on the indication and identification of both the accused the dead body was dug out and found in decomposed state,” the police statement said.
The body is being taken for autopsy and medico-legal formalities.
