Pulwama: Thousands of people on Sunday participated in the funeral of ‘Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind’ militant Asif Nazir Dar, who was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Hazratbal area of Srinagar on Saturday.

Since early morning, hundreds of people assembled at Panzgam, the native village of ‘Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind’ militant Asif Nazir Dar to participate in his funeral prayers, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.

At least three rounds of funeral prayers were offered as villagers from Chakoora, Gulzarpora, Dogripora, Reshipora, Padgampora and adjoining villages made a beeline to Panzgam to pay their homage to the slain militant, witnesses said.

Dar was an active militant associated with the Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), but later defected to Musa-led Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind, a police official told Kashmir Reader Saturday.

An Al-Qaeda affiliated Global Islamic Media Front had on July 27, 2017, announced Musa as the head of the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. Zakir Rashid Bhat alias Zakir Musa is a former commander of the HM.
