Health camp held at Narayana hospital in Jammu

Jammu: SMVD Narayana super speciality hospital conducted a health camp on Sunday at Bahu Plaza here ­for the patients suffering from hearing loss, congenital deafness and other ENT problems.
According to a statement, the camp was organised in association with Samriti speech and hearing clinic. “K.B Jandial- former member of J&K public service commission inaugurated the event. Others who attended this event includes Dr Man Mohan Harjai – Chief Administrative officer (SMVDNSH) and Dr. Rohan Gupta, consultant ENT at SMVDNSH.
Jandial on the occasion said, “We appreciate the efforts of Shrine board and Narayana Health for organising such kind of activities in Jammu and surrounding areas and we expect such more activities in coming days also which will definitely help the patients from poor background.”
Dr Harjai explained that the cochlear implant also called a bionic ear, bypasses the damaged hair cells of the inner ear (cochlea) to provide sound signals to the brain and improves sensorineural hearing loss. He also briefed the achievements of the hospital in last two and half years. He informed that the Shrine Board has provided free choclear implant surgery to 9 children in last 4 months and today they all can now listen and speak as well. Dr Harjai also stated that the hospital will continue to organise series of such camps in other areas also starting from October till March 2019.
The statement said that more than 250 patients from Jammu and surrounding areas were benefited by this camp.
