Police say youth killed at Naseem Bagh was an active militant

Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that the youth killed by unidentified gunmen at Naseem Bagh in Srinagar was an active militant affiliated with Zakir Musa group.

A top police official told Kashmir Reader that the slain youth has been identified as Asif Nazir Dar son of Nazir Ahmad Dar and a resident of Panzgaam in Awantipore.

He said that Dar was active since January 2017.

Dar, according to police sources, was a former student of Islamic University of Science and technology at Awantipora.

Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar Imtiyaz Ismail Parray told news gathering agency GNS that two magazines and a pistol were recovered from Dar’s possession.

Earlier, an ID card of IUST was also recovered from Dar’s posession which detailed that he was Ishfaq Ahmad.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and registered a case under relevant sections.
