Water crises hits Handwara village

Handwara: The people of Khanabal area of Handwara in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday staged a protest against shortage of drinking water in their area.
Scores of people including women and men, children blocked Baramulla- Handwara road against the water shortage in their locality. The protesters raised slogans against the government and the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for failing to provide them regular water supply.
They also said that despite repeated pleas to the concerned department to solve their problem, but PHE officials are ignoring the issue.
Later a police team reached on the spot and assured them their complaint will be forwarded to the concerned authorities.
