Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed in south Kashmir’s Shopian town on Friday after some anonymous persons called for it on Masjid loudspeakers, sources said.
Local sources told Kashmir Reader that unknown persons called for a protest shutdown against slapping of Public Safety Act (PSA) against some youth.
However, it was immediately not known how many were arrested or slapped with PSA.
“We heard an appeal from Masjid loudspeakers last evening which was repeated today morning, this is all we know about the shutdown call,” a shopkeeper in the town told Kashmir Reader over phone.
Meanwhile local sources said that four civilians, including a non local were killed in forces firing at Gagren area of the town five years back on this day (September 7, 2013).
Witnesses said that all shops and business establishments are closed in the town.
