JAMMU: The National Conference on Thursday criticised the PDP-BJP alliance for taking the weaker sections of society (Other Backward Class) for granted over three years of their governance and said they were demoted as second class citizens.
According to the statement, a spokesperson said the NC’s Other Backward Class cell (OBC) leaders while addressing the worker’s meeting in Lower Tanda in Nagrota here on Wednesday urged the Governor’s Administration for speedy implementation of various schemes tailored for empowering the weaker sections, which the previous government has withheld.
Co-chairperson of the OBC cell, Abdul Gani Teli criticised the BJP state chief for making hollow promises with the people of Jammu and Kashmir about development, employment and economic emancipation of the weaker sections. “In partnership with PDP, BJP not only failed in keeping the promises but also stalled the initiatives taken by the National Conference led government for welfare and economic empowerment of the OBCs.”
Teli reiterated adequate representation for the OBCs in the corporation set-up for welfare of weaker segments of society and said that this is needed to be headed by a member of the community, who can understand the problems and take effective measures for execution of various schemes for their welfare.
