Handwara: Scores of residents of Khanabal area on Thursday staged a protest against non-availability of clean drinking water.

Scores of men, women and children hit the streets and staged a demonstration against the alleged failure of Public Health Engineering (PHE) department to provide clean drinking water to the villagers, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.

Angry protesters blocked Baramulla-Handwara road seeking uninterrupted water supply.

“Despite repeated pleas, the officials are not paying any attention to solve our problems,” the protesters said.

Later, a team of police reached the spot and assured the protesters to take up the issue with the higher ups.
