Mysterious fire damages Govt School building in central Kashmir

Budgam: A government Middle School building was gutted completely in Attina village of Beerwah in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on intervening night of Thursday.

Zonal Education Officer Beerwah, Dilshad Ahmad Banday while confirming the incident to Kashmir Reader said that the building of the middle school was damaged completely in the fire incident.

All school records also gutted in the incident, he said.

A police officer also confirmed the incident and said that the fire broke out in the middle school at Attina under “mysterious circumstances”.

After getting the information, police team, fire and emergency and local volunteers rushed to the spot to douse off the flames, however the intensity was too high that nothing could be saved, he said.

Police official said that two fire and emergency employees received injuries while dousing the flames, however, school records could not be saved. They have been identified as Ghulam Ahmad Dev and Tasleem Ahmad.

Police have registered a case in this regard at police station Beerwah and investigation has been started, police said.
