DGP Vaid removed, Dilbagh Singh incharge police chief

Srinagar: The government on Thursday night appointed Dilbag Singh as incharge Director General of police (DGP) removing Dr SP Vaid unceremoniously.

Singh who is currently DGP (Prisons) will hold the charge of the J&K DGP  in addition to his own duties till a regular arrangement is made. The order in this regard was issued by the Home Department on Thursday night.

“Dr SP Vaid is transferred and his services are at the disposal of General administration department for further posting as Transport commissioner,” the order issued by RK Goyal, Principal Secretary to government , Home Department read.

Vaid, 1986 batch IPS officer was, removed days after abduction of eleven family members of serving policemen in south Kashmir. The move prompted police to release Hizb commander Riyaz Naikoo’s father Assadullah Naikoo and is believed to have led to Vaid’s replacement.
