CASO on in Baramulla forest to hunt ‘group of militants’

Baramulla: Government forces including army and police started a massive search operation in Narvaw forests of Baramulla district on Wednesday.
Official sources said that army’s 52 RR, 46 RR, paramilitary CRPF and SOG of police cordoned off the forest area along Taripora village and began a massive search operation following information of the presence of a group of militants. The sources said that the army fired some warning shots towards a suspected spot but no contact was as yet established with militants.
The Baramulla police in a statement said that a cordon and search operation (CASO) was launched in the area after detection of some suspicious movement, but no contact was established yet.
The sources and locals of the area said that reinforcements were rushed to the area to nab the militants and a huge area had been cordoned off.
The CASO was still on when this report was filed.
The area is some 12 kilometres from district headquarters Baramulla and lies close to the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad national highway.
