Militants attack army patrol in south Kashmir’s Pulwama

Pulwama: Militants on Wednesday morning attacked an army party in Lassipora area of this south Kashmir district.

Around 10:00 am today, unidentified militants opened fire upon a team of soldiers of 55 RR in Hazidarpora village of Lassipora here, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.

The soldiers, witnesses said returned the fire triggering off a brief encounter. However, no reports of causality on the either side have been received.

SSP Pulwama Chandan Kohli confirmed exchange of gunfire between militants and government forces in the area.

Meanwhile, additional reinforcements were seen rushing to the spot as army has laid a cordon in the area and started search operation.
