Srinagar: Government forces have allegedly ransacked the house of Hizb ul Mujahideen militant, Lateef Dar in Dogripora area of Awantipora late last evening, sources said on Wednesday.

The family and neighbors have alleged that they were beaten up by the government forces personnel during the late night operation.

This comes days after a faceoff between police and militants where they targeted each other’s families.

Lateef Dar is one of the oldest surviving militants and a close associate of late popular militant commander, Burhan Wani.

The police though have refuted the allegations. SSP Awantipora acknowledged that an operation was launched in the area but no ransacking took place.  “Nobody was beaten either.  The allegations are baseless.  We have received no such complaint at the police station as well,” Malik told Kashmir Reader.
