Srinagar: Kashmir Journalists Corps has expressed deep concern over the continued detention of assistant editor of Kashmir Narrator Asif Sultan.
In a statement the journalist body said that that Asif has been detained for his recent reportage and the editor too has be informed about it. “The Corps therefore urges the authorities to deal with the matter in a transparent way and make any accusations against him public with substantive evidence. The authorities are fully aware of the challenges the reporters in Kashmir face in sourcing information for their stories,” it said.
It said that it is incumbent on the authorities to ensure transparency in Asif’s case to avoid an “impression of intimidation gaining currency against the journalist fraternity in Kashmir”. “It would be in the fitness of things if Asif’s case is dealt with in a fair manner urgently,” it added
