Srinagar: Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Nizamuddin Bhat on Sunday appealed to the people of state to “sustain and unite” for safeguarding the constitutional rights which are under threat.
Bhat in a statement said that nothing good can be achieved till we get together at political and societal level. “Kashmir has a distinct cultural identity and that has unfortunately been confronted by repeated assaults from hostile forces and reckless leadership. This deserves an appraisal.”
He said there is, however, a hope offered by a generation which is resistant and ready to stall further intrusions into their inherited identity and ethos. “That asset needs to be secured through positive support and right direction,” Bhat said, and added both religious and political groups, who stand for Kashmir’s shared history and culture, are fairly sensitive about state’s political aspirations should not pull in different directions in any hour of challenge like it is posed now.
Bhat said there is need of a discourse on how best people can be made conscious of dangers for their survival and to their identity.
