Shopian encounter: Govt forces detain house owners

Shopian:

Government forces on Sunday afternoon detained the owners of two houses in Laadi village of Shopian district where a fierce gun battle raged in the morning hours.

The house owners Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat and Muhammad Yousuf Wani were detained when the forces were withdrawing from the encounter site, their families said.

The forces withdrew from the encounter site after the militants reportedly managed to escape. 

A top police officer of the district did not respond to calls of Kashmir Reader correspondent.

Meanwhile, 17 people have suffered injuries during violent protests in Laadi village this morning.

Thirteen of the injured, received pellet injuries and were brought to the sub-district hospital, Shopian, official sources told Kashmir Reader. Three injured were also brought to the public health center (PHC) Zainpora.

“Two of the injured with grievous pellet injuries were referred to Srinagar’s SMHS hospital for advanced treatment,” they added.
