Shopian: Mobile internet service was restored in Shopian district of southern Kashmir Sunday afternoon.
The service was snapped after violent protests erupted in the district as government forces engaged a group of militants in a gun-battle.
All cellular companies, including the state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) have restored mobile internet services, locals said.
Encounter raged in Laddi village in the wee hours today after army’s 44 RR, special operations group (SOG) of police and CRPF launched a joint cordon and search operation (CASO).
Meanwhile, reports said that the militants have managed to flee after briefly, but fiercely engaging government forces.
