17 injured with pellets in south Kashmir’s Shopian

Shopian: At least seventeen people have suffered pellet injuries in the protests triggered by a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Laddi village in this south Kashmir district.

Thirteen of the people, who had received pellet injuries in government forces action, were brought to sub-district hospital, Shopian here, official sources told Kashmir Reader. Three injured were also brought to public health centre (PHC) Zainpora.

“Two of the injured with grievous pellet injuries were referred to Srinagar’s SMHS hospital for advanced treatment,” they added.

Violent protests rocked Laadi this morning when special operations group (SOG) of police, army’s 44 RR and CRPF troopers started a CASO in the village, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.

Government forces used pellets and tear smoke shells after protests escalated in the village.
