Residents of Sopore village protest against water shortage

Srinagar: A large number of residents of Seelu village in northern Sopore area including women on Saturday hit the road and blocked Sopore-Kupwara highway and shouted slogans against PHE department for allegedly failing to provide them regular water supply.

According to the protesters the area has been grappling with the water crisis since past one week.

The protesters alleged that they are forced to drink the unhygienic water of streams.

They further alleged that matter has been brought to the notice of the concerned authorities but no action has been taken so far.

Protest in the area was on when last reports came in.
