Srinagar: The Hurriyat Conference (M) on Friday condemned the house arrest of its chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other pro-freedom leaders by the authorities.
In a statement, a spokesperson of amalgam said, “Preventing faithful for offering mandatory Friday prayers at Kashmir’s grand mosque Jama Masjid for the 11th time this year, imposing curfew like restrictions in parts of the Valley and barring Mirwaiz to deliver sermon at Jama Masjid by the authorities is ‘sheer dictatorship’ and highly condemnable.”
He said such repeated restrictions by the government have neither prevented people of Kashmir nor the Mirwaiz to carry forward the movement.
The amalgam lauded the people of Jammu and Kashmir for showing courage and resilience by observing two days shutdown in defence of the State Subject law.
