Srinagar: The J&K High court has allowed and arrayed Mohammad Ashraf Wani, President of Pellet Victims Welfare Trust (PVWT) as party to a petition titled High Court Bar Association Vs Union of India and others.
The application was moved by senior counsel Mian Qayoom before court on the ground that it is important that pellet victims be taken on board as the matter adjudicated upon by the court “can be effectively viewed and the necessary reliefs can be granted in favour of the pellet victims”. Hearing the counsel, the division bench of Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Alok Aradhe impleaded Mohammad Ashraf Wani as party to the petition and direction was passed to Additional Advocate General, B A Dar to file objections within two weeks.
The application moved by Ashraf states that the pellet victims are facing hardships “as most of us (Victims) belong to poor families and have no resources for meeting medical expenses as such have formed a welfare trust with an aim and objective to help and support those victims whose life came to halt due to pellets”.
