SRINAGAR: The J&K High Court on Wednesday directed Vigilance Organization (Kashmir) to place a copy of FIR registered against persons who have embezzled large amounts of public funds which were required for the widening of the road between Sumbal and Bandipora.
While hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Civil Society Tral regarding road widening projects, the Division Bench of Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Alok Aradhe were informed that large amounts of public funds have been embezzled for the widening of Sumbal and Bandipora roads and that an FIR has been registered by the Vigilance Organization, (Kashmir) Srinagar.
The court then called for a report from Vigilance Organization (Kashmir) Srinagar with the details of registration of the FIR; investigation thereon and as to whether the charge sheet has been filed.
“Let a copy of the FIR be placed before us. The details of the persons, who have been charge sheeted shall also be indicated in the status report,” the court ordered.
The court also directed Public Works Department to file a status report regarding the repairs of the stretch of the road between Sumbal to Bandipora.
