Clashes break out in south Kashmir’s Shopian

Shopian: Government forces this afternoon burst tear gas canisters after angry protesters attacked their vehicles in a village in this south Kashmir district.

Government forces were returning from area domination practice from Narwani area this afternoon when a group of people, mostly youth hurled stones at their vehicles near Chitragam-Kalan village, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.

The government forces, they said resorted to tear smoke shelling to disperse the angry stone pelting youth.

The youth, witnesses said were angry over attempts being made to revoke Article-35A.

The clashes continued for some time. However, no one was reported to be injured in the pitched battles.
