Pulwama: Clashes have erupted in Arigam village of this south Kashmir district after government forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) this afternoon.

Scores of people, mostly youth hit the streets in Adde-Mohalla of Arigam here and staged a protest this afternoon when special operations group (SOG) of police and army’s 44 RR laid a siege around the village and started a search operation, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.

Angry protesters, witnesses said resisted the search operation and pelted rocks at the government forces.

“The government forces lobbed tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters. This led to the outbreak of clashes,” witnesses said.

The clashes were going on when the last reports came in.
