Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided the residence of Syed Shakeel Yousuf, and arrested him from Rambagh area of Srinagar, sources said on Thursday.
NIA raided the residence of Shakeel early in the morning they said, adding they conducted searches and arrested him.
Shakeel is the son of Hizb ul Mujahideen chief, Syed Salahudin.
Shakeel is the second son of Salahudin who has been arrested by the NIA. The probe agency has already arrested Syed Shahid Yousuf son of Salahudin in money laundering case and he is lodged in Tihar jail, Delhi.
Shakeel’s family sources told Kashmir Reader that he is working as Senior Lab Technician, in SKIMS, Soura from last 30 years and has nothing to do with politics.
Confirming the arrest an NIA spokesman reportedly said in Delhi that Shakeel, was picked up from Rambagh locality of Srinagar and placed under arrest.
The spokesman reportedly said, “In an operation today morning, NIA team along with the police and CRPF arrested Shakeel in a terror funding case”.
