Srinagar: The J&K High Court Bar Association on Wednesday said that a 14-member team led by its president Mian Abdul Qayoom will seek dismissal of the bunch of petitions challenging Article 35A in the Supreme Court.
A statement issued by the association said that it was unanimously decided in the Bar’s executive committee meeting that the 14-member team of lawyers will appear before the Supreme Court on August 31, the scheduled date of hearing of the petitions.
“We will seek the dismissal of all the petitions on the grounds already raised by the Bar Association in its application,” the statement said.
Apart from Mian Abdul Qayoom, the team of lawyers that will travel to New Delhi includes Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, GN Shaheen, Adil Asimi, ZA Shah, RA Jan, Altaf Haqani, Manzoor Ahmad Dar, Nazir Ahmad Ronga, Rafiq Ahmad Joo, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, Bashir Sidiq, Mudasir Yousuf, and Mian Muzaffar.
“It was also decided that any other member of the J&K High Court Bar Association Srinagar and/or any other Bar Association, who is willing to appear before the Supreme Court along with the 14-member team, is at liberty to do so,” the statement added.
