Drivers hold pro-Art 35A protest in central Kashmir

Budgam: The drivers association on Thursday morning took out a peaceful protest rally against moves for abrogation of Article 35, in Magam town of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Supreme Court of India is scheduled to hear on Aug 31, a case about annulment of Article 35A, corner stone of the remaining aspects of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in the Indian constitution.

Under the banner of Shalimar Sumo Stand the drivers assembled in the main stand and took out a scheduled really and marched up-to the main Chowk Magam.

They held placards that read “dismiss PIL on Article 35A”, “Ya kashmir hamara ha Iska Faisla ham karengay” and “Assault on Article 35A is attack on our existence”.

Safeguarding Article 35A holds important as it protects constitution of Jammu and Kashmir and various other state laws, they said.

“India should desist from playing with fire by abrogating this article,” they said.

Finally the rally ended peacefully in the main Chowk.
